The key differences are solid engine mounts on the Softail which produce less vibration versus rubbery elastomer mounts on the Dyna which provide more character and said monotube rear. Theyre still interchangable on the older models if you use plugs for the O2 bungs and cap them off. Models 5 and 5A had 28-inch 710 mm wheels the former with battery ignition and the latter with magneto ignition.

Only thing you have to watch is of course has a very wide turning radius but that also makes it extremely stable. These motorcycles are different from the popular Softails due to their coil-over suspension which connects the frame and the swingarm together. Harley Dyna motorcycles have large twin engines with traditional styling.
This thing is a lot of fun. Those built before 2009 and those built after 2010. A useful increase and combined with the reduced weight makes for spirited blasting around on.
Both the bikes offer the build and quality you would expect from a Harley-Davidson and both handle well in all weather. Dyna series include the Super Glide Super Glide Custom Street Bob Low Rider and Fat Bob.
Much to the chagrin of fans however the Dyna platform was discontinued for 2018 with some models folded into the Softail lineup. Model 6 series added an idler arm. However Harley discontinued the lineup in 2017 and the Dyna line.
